Here's the Scoop!

Today is Friday, November 15, 2013 and the weather is getting chiller. We have been working hard in Math. We learned new Divisibility rules. Divisibility is when you find the GCF (Greatest Common Factor). We have also learned to find the GCF. In order to find the GCF you need to list the the factors of what ever the number is and do it to the other number, then you see what the. Highest factor that is on both numbers is the answer to the problem.

The number of the day is 33. We take a number and do something like this 13+20=33 and try to find other ones that equals 33, we can use +, -, x, and division.

Mrs. Binge's 6th grade class is selling snack passes for $1.00. Every Wednesday Mrs. Binge is selling snack passes for a $1.00 and you get a pass you can use the pass any time you want. The money they raise goes to Growing Stong and Habitat Humanity.

Congratulations to following students that made the Durfee Basketball team; Tyler, Kaderius, Jacobe, Jamel, Kamilian, and Trelyn. Their first game is Tuesday at the DISC at 3:45pm.

Our next States and Capitals test is Wednesday, November 20, 2013. I am currently studying to take a Greatest Common Factor. I am sure I will do great. There is a song on YouTube that we have been using to help us with our States. I really love that song.

We have also been studying lots of Vocabulary words. Each week we make flash cards, work on sentences, graphic organizers and made videos with our IPads. My favorite word we've learned so far is Monopoly. The definition of Monopoly is Control of a product or service by one company.

Our Holiday program is December 12 at 12:45. The 5th graders will be singing Jingle Bell Rock and We Will Jingle.

In Reading we are reading a book called Loser. Loser is about a little kid named Donald Zinkoff that hopes for more snow days and to grow up like his Dad (mailman). Zinkoff always raises his with all the wrong answers, trips over his own feet, and falls down with laughter over a word like "Jabip". Other kids have their own word to describe him, but Zinkoff is too busy to hear it. He doesn't know he's not like everyone else. And one winter night, Zinkoff's differences show that any name can someday be a "hero". I like the book because it has all the great things that a great book has making sense, enterment and fun.
